FAQs or Steps of the Process

Where do we begin?

It starts with a free consultation, where we learn about what your personal goal is (i.e. moving, staying in place but with less stuff to trip on, etc…), and formulate a plan of action to accomplish that goal. For instance, if your goal is to move from a home with 50 years of accumulation that is overwhelming to live in, and buy a fresh new condo or assisted living apartment, we would do the following:

We would start with a free consultation, where we follow up with an estimate so the fees are clear and easily understandable. Next, we create a floor plan of the new home and help you evaluate what you want to bring and what you want to sell, donate, or discard in order to make that happen. We then come and help you prioritize what areas of your current home need work sorting, packing, etc. We then execute that action by actually packing, sorting, etc.. scheduling the move, auction, and charitable organizations to get the move completed to your standards in a timely manner. We also help prepare your home for sale once your are moved by scheduling the cleaner and any minor home repair that needs to be taken care of , and we help get the home sold through a local real estate agency. The end result is that you hopefully feel lighter and happier with how your new home looks and feels, because we have taken the stress of the whole thing off your shoulders. We even follow up one week after the move to tweak anything you would like us to in your new home! The most important thing is that your wishes are carried out by trustworthy and reputable people who have gone through training to be senior move managers, so that your personal goals are met and your enjoyment of life is unhindered. 

How much does it cost?

A free consultation is the first step in determining cost, and the job will be estimated and totaled before work begins, in a clear and concise manner, so that there are no surprises at any point of the process.

About Our Owner

Sandy Lawrence

Sandy Lawrence’s experience in real estate in Central Ohio opened her eyes to a huge need for tangible help in the world of downsizing and estates. Assisting five separate clients in nine months who were overwhelmed by their homes gave her a unique perspective and opened her eyes to the best ways to tangibly help make a smooth transition for the 50+ age group. In addition, assisting in several estates where the family was entirely out of state, or the daunting job was left to just one singular local family member gave her the vision needed to launch DownsizeMeSimply. Sandy has a passion to aid the elderly and assist those who are closest to them.  An “old soul”, she is a pianist who accompanies “hymn sings” all over central Ohio, volunteers at a local nursing home, and respects the cadence of the older generation immensely. Most importantly, she has years of experience as a Realtor with Sluss Realty, is in the top 10% of sales for the State of Ohio, has received the Award of Distinction, as well as the President’s Club award for the last few years.
